Big Data and Big Ideas: Intelligent Systems, M2M and the Internet of Things|
Tom Williams, Editor-in-Chief, RTC Magazine,
It is sometimes fascinating to watch how colloquial expressions arise, are used, drop out of use, and are often used with only an assumption regarding what they actually mean and, more importantly, what they may imply about the future. Some of the expressions flying around today include “intelligent systems,” the “Internet of Things” and “machine-to-machine systems.” Now, I am not saying that these terms are misunderstood. It’s more that they are very broadly applicable, and as we drill down to more specific examples and implementations, a definition, or sub-definition, comes into sharper focus.
